American Excellence Initiative
Integrated Wellness for Frontline Professionals
ThE MISSION
The American Excellence Initiative exists to strengthen the physical, psychological, relational, and spiritual health of Law Enforcement professionals.
AEI provides wellness solutions at both the individual and organizational levels. Through training, coaching, speaking, and consulting, AEI builds resilient people, resilient teams, and resilient cultures.
AEI delivers integrated wellness for the frontline: developing leadership, reinforcing resilience, and improving the long-term health of those who serve.

MISSION CRITICAL
Mission critical: Essential to success, safety, or survival.
After more than two decades serving on the front lines as an educator, law enforcement officer, high-threat diplomatic security contractor, and national school safety trainer, AEI founder Andy Arnold saw a consistent pattern. The most valuable asset of the policing mission, the individual, is in a state of crisis. Research supports this.
The watershed Buffalo Cardio-Metabolic Occupational Police Stress (BCOPS) study, reveals a clear and urgent need for integrated wellness support across U.S. law enforcement:
-
75–80% of officers are overweight
-
27% meet the criteria for metabolic syndrome
-
Cardiovascular disease accounts for roughly 10% of line-of-duty deaths each year
-
15–20% of officers are living with PTSD
-
5% have suffered a traumatic brain injury
-
Officers are 50% more likely to die by suicide than adults in the general working
-
population
-
Suicide rates are significantly higher in small and rural agencies with limited resources
Simply having an Employee Assistance Program available is not enough. Wellness cannot be reactive, optional, or isolated.
Human Capital
The most valuable asset in any law enforcement agency is its people.
AEI strengthens the physical, psychological, relational, and spiritual health of officers at every rank and in every assignment. From patrol to command staff, from small rural departments to large metropolitan agencies, sustainable excellence requires sustained investment in those who serve.
When individuals prioritize their wellness and leadership reinforces it through culture and strategy, the investment in human capital pays dividends.
